The curious thing about Iman’s work is it’s simplicity. It’s a simplicity that speaks to depth and a careful understanding of topics. You find bits and pieces of Iman’s life in her illustration.

From her connection to 90’s pop culture with scrambled lyrics and song titles on “Tupac” to more deliberateness and a soulful reconnection to what it “feels” like to be a woman on “Cone”. She constantly explores variants and balances the odds. The more you look, the more you’ll see.

An easy way to describe her work is “true to self”. In more recent project “Hands and Roses” which she converted to a shirt print, we find the same contrast between the wild and the familiar. She also gets top marks for innovation on “Bandages”. For me, that work is a startling reminder of peace in pieces.

Thanks for coming to the exhibition, see you next Tuesday. Catch up with Iman on Twitter by clicking ME.
